借我一輩子 = Lend me for the rest of your life

Just heard that song over the radio on the way to work. It's by Gary Chaw (曹格). A very talented Malaysian singer who made it big in Taiwan, and I must add one of my idols.

Before the song was played, the was a short intro to it. It started with a question why "lend"? Aren't you suppose to "give"? Isn't suppose to say "I give you the rest of my life"? It's more romantic like this right? But when Gary explained the whole meaning behind it.... it does make sense. It surely does not sound so romantic up front, but it sure is with it's explanation.

"借我一輩子"因為借了就要換回。那麼這個樣子，我們就可以戀愛兩輩子咯！

"Because you will have to pay me back. Therefore, we will then be able to love each other again in our next life"
