If I stopped working in advertising, I would want to make traveling my full time job ( but if only I have the moolah >_<). That would be a dream come true... But deep down some where hidden at a tiny corner of my brain, there is always this dream of mine to open up a little café, a cake shop... a cozy tiny little place where mummy and I can sell our bakes, a simply place. No heavy cooked food. Maybe some simply home cooked dishes once in a while, but mostly cakes and cookies. We will only bake and cook a limited amount daily, so that our food is always fresh. We can place some table and chairs, like an 'arty' cafe where people can come and hang around. Only fresh original ingredients are used. So it's purely 100% home made.
Besides that, I can still continue to do design by designing the store and packaging. I would be my own client and do my own critique. I can finally express my thoughts in art and design. There are so many concepts in my mind right now.... The place has to look simple, easily maintained. White is a good concept but not for my place. How long can white stay white, right? Because I also want to do my little part in helping the environment, my store concept will be environmental friendly. but this does not mean it has to look woody, ala Starbucks etc.... I can play with that idea on my packaging. Only brown biodegradable material is used. And design wise, less is more. Back to the basics. Silk screen printing.
The furniture. Even though I would like the place to be cozy, I don't think sofas are a good idea. It would be hard to maintain. No one wants to sit on a couch with multiple stains and smell right? We can have padded chairs instead. Maybe each table has it's own little theme, like 'love zone' or '80's zone' etc.. Then each 'zone' will be decorated following it's theme, but not too heavy. Less is more remember.
Also, we can have a patio area. Hmm... so it would be great if we can rent a place on the 1st floor. Not too high... no one wants to climb up so may flights of stairs just to chill. The patio can be a smoking area (maybe not too because maybe our little place is a non smoking place). The main reason for the outdoor patio is for people like me who are afraid of the cold.
I would not want the place to be crowded. So there will only be a minimalistic of seating area. Then at a corner, I can maybe collaborate with some bookstore to sell some design books and nick-nacks.
This is only a rough idea and though of my little once-in-a-while-forgotten-dream. If it could really come true... wouldn't it be amazing...
